Could anyone please explain this whole issue with the RH Bill? Because right now it seems to be another political waste of time. I am neither for nor against it, but if this is the Church meddling or using its influence, then that’s just crap. The government is one thing and the Church another, and working together does not mean dictating especially when, for one, the government and its laws are for the citizens — not all of which are Catholic. We seem to forget that a lot.

And we’re asking for trouble, if we continue to do so.

Thing is, the Church can teach its constituents, and nobody (especially not in the Philippines) is stopping them. If they want to tell people not to engage in premarital sex, or that divorce is ruins marriage in more levels than one, or that contraception is unnatural and completely misses the point of a loving relationship, then they should.

But not on this scale. Not to the extent of bothering with the government who (I sincerely hope) is just trying to address the issue of overpopulation and all the problems that tags along with it.

There are obviously too many people and it’s idiotic to let this uninformed behavior continue simply because we don’t want people to be having sex just for the pleasure of it or whatever. It happens, we need to do something about it, and this way of education and contraception is the way then, well, why not? It doesn’t block off religion, and neither does it dictate that people learn about sex and engage in it like bunnies (I hope), so what is the matter?

Again: if they want to do something about it, then they should. They’re powerful enough to be heard, why don’t they talk about what really bothers them instead of directing the issue and messing the system up even more?

On a side note, I can totally imagine how sex ed would go:

So, kids, men and women have reproductive organs — *snickersnicker* — this is why men have penises — *snickersnickerguffaw* — and women vaginas — *snickerblushgiggle* — and when…

That thought isn’t even worth pursuing, stagnant and stupidly prudish as it is.
